Paul Craig’s poor form continued at UFC 301 on Saturday night.

The Scottish MMA star looked to get his career back on track by ending Caio Borralho’s 14-fight win streak at the Farmasi Arena, in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

However, he was no match for the hometown favourite and ultimately suffered a brutal knockout loss in the second round.

Borralho hurt his rival with a two-punch combination before backing him up to the fence and closing the show with a savage right hand that knocked ’Bearjew’ out cold.

Craig’s head sickeningly bounced off the Octagon fence before he fell face-first to the floor and the fight was waved off after just over two minutes of the second stanza.

“I told you all I was going to KO him and I did it," said Borralho.

"Knocking him out wasn’t about my ego, it was the smartest way to win against Paul. I am a fighting nerd."

UFC fans were concerned by Craig’s lack of boxing defence.

One person tweeted: “Craig was eating shots the whole fight man cover your face dawg.”

Another said: “0 head movement, no boxing skills. Embarrassing.”

A third person added: “Ben Askren standup vibes.”

Someone else wrote: “Paul Craig’s striking defence is not real, Jesus wtf was that?”

Craig had recorded just one win from his last four fights heading into UFC 301.

The 36-year-old was previously a top light-heavyweight contender after picking up several high-profile wins over Jamahal Hill, Magomed Ankalaev, and Mauricio ‘Shogun’ Rua.

Back-to-back defeats against Volkan Oezdemir and Johnny Walker convinced him to drop down a division to make a run at Dricus du Plessis’ middleweight title.

Craig looked great in his 185lb debut as he ruthlessly stopped fellow submission specialist Andre Muniz, but things have not gone well for him since then.

Brendan Allen dominated him in a third-round submission win last November, and now his career is in limbo after a second successive loss.

Craig may opt to move back up in weight or call time on his UFC career.
